INFORMATION ON MOHAWK FINE PAPERS CARBON NEUTRAL CERTIFICATION (3,775KB)
In March of 2007, the manufacturer of Ultrafelt, Mohawk Fine Papers, joined the U.S. EPA Climate Leaders program to further develop greenhouse gas reduction goals. As an extension of their voluntary commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to support renewable electric power, Mohawk began to offer products that are made carbon neutral. For Mohawks’ carbon neutral qualification, Mohawk offsets both the electricity and the thermal energy used to make paper. Mohawk does this within their production processes by offsetting thermal manufacturing emissions with Verifiied Emissions Reduction (VERs) credits and emissions from purchased electricity with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from Green–e certified windpower projects. This document contains certificates and further information about the projects through which the emissions generated within the production process are being offset. |
